Medium Chewers

Need Chews A Bit Stronger

A medium chewer can chew through a chew, but it will take a couple of months to do this in general.  Their chews last less than 6 months.  This group can have success with a wide variety of chews but it is best to select chews that are a bit larger and which are not super soft.  Medium chewers should select shapes that don’t have appendages on them that can be chewed off more easily.  Often, medium chewers are aged 7-12yrs.

Medium chewers can pick any hardness of chew that they prefer. Soft chews (approximately 60A durometer) to medium (approximately 70A durometer) to hard (80A+ durometer).

Medium chewers should pick shapes with rounded bellies or relatively larger diameters or midsections so that the chew will be more durable when bitten.

Medium chewers should pick chews that are relatively larger than other chewies. The extra bulk extends the useful life of the chew.

*Note: every child is different and needs varying levels of adult supervision when using a chewing device. We recommend adult supervision at all times.

This guide is intended as a general guide on the selection of an appropriate chew for your child. There are certainly light chewers over the age of 10 as well as strong chewers under the age of 6. Please consult a professional if you have questions on what is the best chew choice for your child.
