Frequently Asked Questions- FAQs

Q.   How do I know if I need a 3/8″ diameter buDDy tube or 1/2″ diameter tube for my child?
A.  It depends upon how old your child is.  We recommend the 3/8″ diameter tube for children under 5 yrs old.  If your child is older than 5, the  3/8″ tube is still a good choice as you will notice less drool when they use it.

Q.  How hard/firm are the cHu-buDDy tubes?
A.  The tubes are 85A in durometer which means they are fairly firm.  The hollow void in the tubing softens the firmness up quite a bit.

Q.  What are chew tubes made of?
A. Chew tubes are made of an NSF 51 certified, beverage grade, polymer in the thermo plastics elastomer family that is non-toxic, BPA-free, lead-free, latex-free, and phthalates-free. NSF-51 is the standard for “Plastic Material and Components used in Food Equipment”, and deals with materials and products used in contact with foods and beverages.

Q. What are fish, starfish, buds and robotz made of?
A. Our pendants are made of a non-toxic, BPA-free, lead-free, latex-free, and phthalates-free polymer in the silicone family.

Q.  My child is biting the clip end of the tether.  How do I discourage this?
A.  We suggest that you attach the clip end of the tether high up on your child’s shoulder so that it is difficult to chew on this end of the tether.

Q.  What is the best way to wash my cHu-buDDy tether?
A.  Best way is to soak the tube portion in mild soapy water.  If you detach the tube from the c-ring, the tube is dishwasher safe.

Q.  Which chewy is best for my child?
A.  That depends on a few things. Are chewies getting chewed through in less than a month?  If so, you may want to look at our super strong chew tubes that have a Chew Factor of 3.0.  Please see our web page that is titled “Which Chewy is for me?”

Q.  How do I use the tether and strap
A.  The strap holds the most popular chewy shapes out there. Simply wrap through the chewie or thread the down tube through the strap and connect it to the C ring on the tether.  The tether is meant to be clipped to the shoulder of the child’s shirt.  Please see “how to use tether/lanyard/strap” on our website.
